Putting Pen to Paper

This was the writing phase. And let me tell you, that first draft for January 2024 felt a bit clunky. I’d read it, and it just sounded… bland. Not what I was going for. So, I’d scrap it and start again. I kept telling myself, “Make it sound like you’re talking to a friend.” Use language that’s relatable. Avoid all that super formal, jargon-y stuff. I just wanted it to sound like me, sharing a thought or an observation.

I focused on key areas: career, relationships, health, personal growth. For each week, I’d try to offer a little bit in each bucket, but also emphasize where the main cosmic push was. Sometimes it was about slowing down, sometimes about pushing forward, sometimes about reflecting. The trick was making each week feel fresh, even if the underlying astrological theme was similar to a previous week.

I’d read through each weekly blurb, asking myself: “Is this encouraging? Is it too vague? Is it too prescriptive?” It was a constant back-and-forth. I’d let a week’s reading sit for a day, then come back to it with fresh eyes, often finding little tweaks or entire sentences that needed reshaping. It truly was a process of feeling it out, trying to get the tone just right – supportive, realistic, and a little bit inspiring without being unrealistic.
